writing a Critical Analysis

To prepare for this week's in-class essay, choose one of the 4 essays that we discussed in class (see syllabus, authors Van Meter, Smith, Leach, Doyle), read carefully, and prepare to write a 5 paragraph analysis. STUDY GUIDE. 

​Please bring a blue book for Thursday's class. You may use your book, an outline, and a dictionary. 
​All analysis must be your own original work/ideas.

For next week, you will write a second draft of your "Loss" essay making improvements in content and grammar. To help you get started, please download this handout on revisions and drafting .

Welcome to English 101, SPring 2018

English 101 at Glendale Community College is the transfer-level composition course designed to improve your critical reading and writing skills. You will write several drafted and timed essays, about half of which will be research/source based. To inform and inspire our writing, we will read texts written from a variety of perspectives on a variety of subjects.  This will be a fun, yet challenging semester. You can look forward becoming a more confident writer, reader, and scholar. I look forward to working with you!
